Hours of operation
The Picton terminal currently operates between 8.00am and 8.00pm Monday to Saturday, and between 8am and 11.00pm Sunday. Operating hours may vary to accommodate changes in our passenger sailing schedule.
Our team is happy to provide additional assistance to those who request or require it. We provide wheelchairs and golf cart boarding for the mobility impaired and work closely with the on board services team to ensure your boarding experience is as easy as possible. Should you require any assistance please notify any of our team when you make your reservation or upon check in at our terminal.

Picton Terminal Internet Access
Kiosks are provided on both floors of the Picton terminal and are coin operated. $2.00 provides 20 minutes of internet access.
Wi-fi Broadband Hotspot
The entire Picton Terminal and vehicle marshalling yard is covered by a wireless hotspot for passengers who wish to access the internet through their own device while awaiting boarding.
Two payment options are available. Either open your browser and purchase time on your credit card or purchase a pre-paid voucher from the ticket counter on the ground floor (this option will provide you with a login and password).
Pre-paid vouchers cost $5.00 and give you one hour or 100MB of data. Any remaining time or MBs may be used at any other Internet Kiosk hot spot throughout the country.
Several taxi and shuttle companies operate from the car park area directly outside the Terminal front doors and service the key passenger sailings daily. Many of the local accommodation providers operate their own courtesy vehicles. Both options operate from the car parking area directly in front of the Picton terminal. If there are no shuttles or taxis waiting, your Interislander Customer Service Representative will happily arrange one for you.
Several water taxi companies operate from the Picton foreshore including Cougar line and Beachcomber cruises. Their location is a 10 – 15 minute walk from the front of the Interislander Terminal. Many of these companies offer a pick up from the commercial jetty adjacent to the Interislander terminal upon request. Enquire about this service when you make your water Taxi reservations
Transport connections to other south Island destinations
Intercity coach lines and Atomic shuttles operate services to Nelson, Kaikoura, Christchurch and beyond that connect with Interislander key passenger sailings daily. Buses depart from the terminal car park or Picton I site. Tickets can be purchased in advance from the transport providers directly or from the Picton I site or Destination Marlborough kiosk on the ground floor of the terminal building. There are currently no onward bus services after 6pm. We strongly recommend that you arrange your onward travel prior to sailing.
Coastal Pacific Train Service
The train station is a pleasant five minute stroll from the front doors of the Interislander terminal. Follow the yellow line from outside the Terminal front doors. Any passengers requiring assistance to get to the train station should consult our customer service representatives at the ticket counter on the ground floor. The Coastal Pacific is a spectacular train journey that departs from Picton at 1.00PM daily, and arrives in Christchurch at 6.30PM.
Foot passenger Food and Beverage Services
The Quest Catering Co. operate Pier Café on the upper floor at the Picton Terminal that services the key passenger sailings daily. Pier café offers great Espresso coffee, hot and cold non-alcoholic beverages and a range of treats including homemade biscuits, muffins, slices and cakes. Various food and beverage vending machines are located within the terminal to service passengers when the Café is not operating. The Quest Catering Co. also offer a range of catering services for your private function or special event during your stay in Picton. We recommend passengers seeking a more substantial meal should explore the range of quality food and beverage services available on-board our vessels.
Vehicle passenger Food and Beverage Services
The Ritual Coffee Company operate a coffee cart from the Picnic Area adjacent to the vehicle check in lanes and service the key passenger sailings daily. Ritual offer a quality locally roasted coffee and a range of teas, hot beverages and biscuits. We recommend passengers seeking a more substantial meal should explore the range of quality food and beverage services available on-board our vessels.
A wide range of rental car company offices are located directly outside the terminal.
Coin operated storage lockers are available inside the Picton terminal at a cost of $2 for 6 hours
Traveller Information and Booking Service
Picton i-SITE Visitor Information Centre now operate an information kiosk inside the Interislander Terminal on the ground floor that services the key passenger sailings daily. The staff are available to provide advice and a booking service for accommodation, onward transport and sightseeing in Marlborough and throughout the rest of New Zealand.
