One of our favourite Picton events is the Marina 2 Marina running and walking event. This year's was on the 27 September. The next event is in Sept/Oct 2026.

About the Marina 2 Marina

Marina 2 Marina is an annual event that’s suitable for all fitness levels. Participants walk or run along wilderness and waterfront trails while enjoying panoramic views of the Marlborough Sounds. Within the event, there are four courses:

The Link: A 24km run (with an optional boat cruise) from Anakiwa to Picton
The Snout: A 13km run or walk from Picton Marina to the end of the Snout and back
Marina 2 Marina: A 10km run or walk from Picton Marina to Waikawa Marina and back
Kids Dash: A 2km dash around Picton Marina for children aged 5 to 9

All courses finish at the same place on the Picton waterfront, where a festive atmosphere awaits. The after-race fun associated with this event is just as important as the running and walking.
